I keep talking about "change," and at this time of year the need to change seems to be more obvious and important than ever. Do you have any idea of what will be different for you as we begin 2018?
Living the way I do, at the behest of the very wisest part of myself, or my "Ultra Self," I don't always have a choice about what is to change. In some ways it seems sad when I have to let go of something, whether it's a habit, a relationship, or a favorite activity. If I left things up to my "lower" self, like most people, I probably wouldn't change much at all. It's far too easy to just keep doing the same things, to be comfortable. But my Ultra Self won't let me off that easy. There are times when I'm "told" I just have to change! At the dawn of 2018, it has happened again.
If you know me at all, you are familiar with my identity as an astrologer. For the last several years - seven, to be exact - I have been providing "Weekly Horoscopes at Work" on YouTube for all who wish to watch and listen. I usually "drop" the videos on Sunday nights, so that people can have a guide to their week.
I have enjoyed creating the videos, and meeting the many wonderful people who have made generous comments about them. However, this year, my habit of producing these videos is going to change.
Something happened when I woke up on New Year's morning, and I have to share it with you.
The first thing I "heard," when I opened my eyes, was the voice of wisdom I was just talking about. It said: "No more Weekly Horoscopes at Work."
I was taken aback by this, and wondered if it was something I should take seriously. But, being very tuned in to this part of my being, I knew that it was, of course, very serious! I had also noticed that by that Monday morning, I had already allowed a Sunday night to go by without dropping the video.
Any time we have to change, the first and best way to deal with it is to accept it. Face it, I had a blast dressing up differently every week, talking about the planets, and letting people know about the different things I'm doing. All of this worked really well, by the way, when I was walking a different career path.
Although I've been an astrologer for more than 35 years, that isn't all that I am anymore. As my skill set has expanded to include transpersonal coaching, hypnotherapy, EMDR, Reiki, Mindful Dance, and Yoga, the Weekly Horoscopes at Work format isn't serving me - or my potential clients - in a way that is effective or appropriate.
I don't know yet exactly what I'll be doing in place of the Weekly Horoscopes at Work, but I promise I'll be taking the advice of my "Ultra Self," and by doing that I know my motive to serve and enlighten will be behind whatever it is. Stay tuned - I promise you're going to love it.
Thanks to all of you for reading this, and for watching the horoscopes over the years. And of course - I've still got my "eye on the skies..." All my astrology services will still be available. You can learn more about them and all the ways I can serve you here:

I don’t know if you pay much attention to the night sky, the planets, how they move and how they might affect us, but trust me: it’s worth a try. My background and practice as an astrologer definitely turns my eyes skyward, particularly at a time such as this. Knowing about the way the planets’ movements can affect my life has been a great help to me as well as to my clients.
As I write, the planet Saturn is about to leave Sagittarius, the zodiac sign where it has been since the beginning of 2015, and move into Capricorn, the sign of the sea goat. T
Planets move from one sign to another all the time, but because Saturn does so only every few years, its change of sign can really impact our lives. Saturn presents us with responsibilities, choices about our options for professional and personal commitments, and at times, struggles and general difficulty. As Saturn harmonizes well with the general vibration of Capricorn, many of us will turn our attention toward working hard and reaching for the rewards we expect from applying our efforts and skills.
Depending on what area of life is affected for you (based on your astrology chart), you will notice shifts and alterations in the way you view your possibilities. I’ll share a bit about my life so you can see what I mean. In 2015, when Saturn entered my ninth house, the area that covers higher learning, I suddenly discovered my desire to learn more so that I could provide more than “just” astrology to my clients.
I discovered the perfect graduate program, and enrolled in it when I was in my very late fifties. It has been a rich experience, but it has also been a lot of work, and a big change to put my focus on learning at the expense of increasing my powers of earning. This was Saturn teaching me that I had things to learn - and providing the opportunity for me to do the hard work it takes to acquire the knowledge and credentials I needed.
Now, as Saturn moves into my tenth house of achievement, I come to a point where I will be challenged to show the world what I know and begin to earn my way toward a fulfilling and successful career based on what I have been studying. I will, in about a year’s time, reach a peak point in my career. I will be finishing my graduate program, and be filled with the knowledge and experience I need to make these big steps.
As Saturn makes its way into Capricorn this night, I face new challenges and a whole lot of work. By the end of 2018, I will be on the threshold of reaching a peak in my career, a time when the work I have been doing for the last 13 or 14 years has come to fruition. I had better make this good!
What will change in your life when Saturn moves into Capricorn? If you’re curious, I hope you’ll explore your possibilities. The end of the year is always a great time to have an astrology consultation, and with Saturn’s changes happening now, you will want to know what you will be working on for the next 2 years and 4 months! Make an appointment now - I’ll be happy to help you find your way through the cosmic confusion and get you on the right path. Visit my web page for a full listing of all the ways we can work together.
When you understand the changes you're going through, it's easy to embrace them and accept the challenges that will lead you to living a truly empowered life!
This is a picture of me standing on a remarkable rock on a magnificent beach. My friend Kim took it of me at the end of summer, when we were exploring the Washington State Coast together. I love the portal the rock provides. The Pacific Ocean is roaring at my back, and in front of me was a whole new challenge. I knew, over these months they call "fall," that I would be working very hard at "re-branding" myself, and I surely have been doing exactly that. Here's how it happened.
Not too many years ago, I was working full time as an astrologer and writer. I got to help people, which is my passion, and share what I know, which is my purpose. It felt like I had everything I needed, and I did - for that moment in my life.
As time passed, the writing business changed. Publishers no longer paid what they once did for intellectual material. Suddenly, writers were supposed to be satisfied with the "honor" of allowing them to put our work in their magazines or on their websites. The checks became smaller and less regular. New York City rent only got more expensive. Money from astrology only supplemented my income - I couldn't pay the bills with it. There was no way I could survive doing what I did in the place where I lived.
Something had to give.
I had to move. I had to change. I had to trust.
And so I did.
I moved back to Pittsburgh, the city where I grew up, and over the last several years, I've been learning new skills and combining to find new ways to help people.
I believed the Universe would pull me in the right direction, and sure enough, it did.
Magic began to happen. I found a remarkable place to study, The Wellness Institute. There I have learned hypnotherapy, breath work, psychodrama, transpersonal psychology and coaching. From other teachers, I also learned EMDR, another method of dealing with trauma, became a yoga teacher, a Reiki master, and a facilitator for Dancing Mindfulness.
I admitted my limitations, faced my fears, went back to my past trauma to clear it, and accepted the help of others who would help me create a strong basis for my future. I cried, I screamed, I pounded, I had experiences that allowed to see who I truly am, not just in this lifetime, but in the continuum of all time. It was not always easy, but it has definitely been a tremendous journey of growth that allowed me to be all that I am.
All the while, I've kept up my astrology website, and created a Podcast with my friend and sister in spirit, Jasa Johnson. We do workshops together, I do my own speaking engagements and workshops, as well as on line seminars on my own, and I'm so honored and proud to be able to offer my services in a new and much more diverse and valuable package.
Now I've developed a new website and started this new blog - and even put a new professional page on facebook. And, just for the record - I still write and I will always do astrology. You can find a menu of the same services I have been offering here.
So yes, I have had to start anew, that's for sure, and although some of this has been difficult, much of it has been a happy adventure. Knowing what I do about the nature of spirit and the value of following the impulse that is sent through me by divine inspiration, I know I am exactly where I am supposed to be.
I hope you like my "re-branding," my re-invention, and I hope you will join me in a quest for truth, happiness, and contentment in knowing you're doing all you can to be the best human being possible.
Here's what I want you to take away from the experience I'm sharing here: If anyone knows how hard it is to accept change and move through the portal to create the next chapter in your life, it's me! It takes a lot of faith, a lot of work, and most of all, love and acceptance of all you are.
How are things going for you? Are you sensing a transition of some kind? Are you on the threshold to adulthood, baffled by the extra burdens of middle age, or feeling empty because your "nest" is no longer full? Does your old relationship feel stale, or is a new one making you wonder if it's worth the effort? Do you feel happy and fulfilled by your work in this life?
If you resonate with the idea of making a change, then maybe we should get together. I know I am here to help you be all that you are. The unique mix of services I've been fortunate enough to package together can help you conquer fear, remove blocks, manage addictions, eradicate bad habits, and most important, learn to love yourself!
